Modern racing technology meets historic horsepower, as the Historic Trans Am Series joins the on-track lineup for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Cup Series event at Sonoma Raceway, June 12-14.

A 24-car field of Historic Trans Am muscle cars, including Mustangs, Camaros, Javelins, Firebirds and Cougars will hit the track on Friday and Saturday. These are real Trans Am race cars - not reproductions - racing and competing 50 years after the series' heyday in the late 1960s and early '70s.

The cars, including a 1968 Sunoco Camaro originally driven by Mark Donohue and 1970 Dodge Challenger driven by Sam Posey, 365体育网址大全have been restored to their original condition and are raced hard by drivers dedicated to honoring the history of this iconic series. Fans can get an up-close look at these machines at a display in the main paddock on Friday and Saturday, as well as a Grid Walk on Saturday morning at 8:20 a.m.

"This is an amazing collection of cars that represents the pedigree of American racing horsepower in the '60s and '70s," said Steve Page, Sonoma Raceway president and general manager. "It will be a treat for our NASCAR fans to see them roaring back to life this June."

The Historic Trans Am Series fills out a full weekend of NASCAR racing at Sonoma Raceway, as drivers from the NASCAR Cup Series and ARCA Menards West Series return to the full, 12-turn road course for the second consecutive year.

The stars of the NASCAR Cup Series return to Northern California for the first road-course race of the year, with two practice sessions slated for Friday (12:05 and 2:05 p.m.) and qualifying on Saturday (12:10 p.m.) The Toyota/Save Mart 350 takes the green flag on Sunday at noon. Martin Truex Jr. will look for his third consecutive Sonoma Raceway win against road-course favorites like Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick, while Jimmie Johnson makes his final start in Sonoma as a full-time Cup Series driver.

Saturday's ARCA Menards West Series will showcase the series' standing as the preeminent development proving ground for NASCAR's future stars, as they face their only road-course race of the year while battling against long-time racers and full-time Cup Series stars. The ARCA Menards West Series main event takes the green flag at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday
